There are many files in the collection for American bands, from north and south.
Chile, Brazil and Mexico made a special project of collecting information for Jerome and he had to visit London once or twice to pick up this information. He had special relationships with some of the Officers of these countries who were very interested in what he was achieving. One officer from Brazil Hermes de Andrade from a Brazilian Air Force Band kept his letter for four years until he retired from the service and then contacted Jerome. We met up with Hermes in London and brought him back to South Wales for a visit and for him to view the collection. Hermes and I later met up again in Italy for the Modena Military Music Festival with the Italian International Military Music Society. One of the most famous bands in USA is the President’s Own United States Marine Band in Washington DC. The American March King John Philip Sousa had a brilliant career in the US Marines eventually becoming the Director of Music of the ‘President’s Own’ his enlistment papers and much information about his life and work are a part of the collection.
Jerome was awarded a certificate of excellence from the Third US Army Band, Fort Worth, Georgia.
